Artist Statement

It wasn’t long ago when the thought of being an artist seemed inadmissible. To find beauty when the wind rustles between palm fronds, while tracing the tiles of ancient mosaics, or when the inhale collides with a smile while resurfacing from the sea. The experience of art, expression of creativity, and exposition of purpose unites itself within, nurturing me to be me.

As waves seek the shore, it is art and design that is my refuge. A place of exploration, experimentation, and excitement. A realm to share stories, to inquire, to play, to challenge. The intent of design offers opportunity and a rhapsody of adventure. 

My work largely encompasses filmmaking, as a Production Designer I am drawn to challenge, narratives with depth, the arts, and altered perception. I am curious, enjoy traversing new things, and find that sometimes coloring outside the lines offers new perspectives, intrigue, and fascination. Other artforms, like drawing and assemblage art dance in the peripherals of my mind, alongside cooking and various experimentations. There is a profound appreciation and privilege to make art for art’s sake, to have the freedom to create and express is incredible –and to do so with fellow creatives, how magical.
 

To me, collaboration with other creatives -especially that glance at one another in nervous excitement- is swirling around blissfully organized chaos, exploring and deciphering complexities, and is a pure expression of being human. And to do so with laughter and memory making along the way, well, it is one of the most special parts of what we do. In my past, present, and future work it is a vital priority to invite joyous and genuinely enjoyable collaboration, one that I cultivate learning opportunities, vow adaptation, and charm organization.
   

It is a humble honor to craft works that may intrigue or inspire viewers, offer mirth or mischief, or maybe even become a part of a core memory. The worlds I am able to construct as a Designer, are both retrospective and introspective. Both structure and art support my craft. The details and the big picture are not opposites, they are layers, they are opportunity, a history, a chase, a story.
